ISLAMABAD: Encouraging results of a week-long smart lockdown in the federal capital have begun to emerge. According to Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Hamza Shafqat, smart lockdown in G-9 sector has reduced the number of new cases by about 50 to 60 percent.

Hamza Shafqat says that if the smart lockdown was not done, the number of cases could have gone up to 45 to 50 per day, so if the smart lockdown continues, the number of new cases will be reduced by 90%.

It should be noted that the number of rapidly increasing corona cases in Islamabad has now reached 10912 while the number of deaths is 101.

It may be recalled that the National Command and Operations Center had recommended smart lockdown in 20 cities, including Islamabad, to curb the rise in Corona cases and tighten security measures.
