Taylor swift has release a post on instagram demanding that the lawmaker’s in her state of Tennessee to remove all the public statues of “recist historical figures” and “white supremacists”
The “Lover” Singer’s words come after the statues around all the world are being pulled down by demonstrators amid protests for the death of American George Floyd.
Taylor Swift, in a lengthy Instagram post, has highlight the Capital Commission and the Tennessee Historical Commission demanding that the organizations should consider the implications of how hurtful it would be to continue fighting these monuments.you show black Tennesseans and all of their allies where you stand, and you continue this cycle of hurt. You can’t change history, but you can change this.
Here is what Taylor Swift says in her Instagram Post:
“As a Tennessean, it makes me sick that there are monuments standing in our state that celebrate recist historical figures who did evil things. Edward Carmack and Nathan Bedford Forrest were DESPICABLE figures in our state history and should be treated as such.”
The “ME” singer went to say it makes her “sick” to see the monuments that “celebrate recist historical figures who did evil things,” and she drops some names, that were “despicable figures” like “white supremacist newspaper editor”, Edward Carmack and Slave trader-turned-KKK Grand Wizard Nathan Bedford Forrest.
Protesters in both the US and UK have been toppling statues of controversial historical figures throughout the month of June, most recently in Camden, New Jersey, where a figure of Christopher Columbus was beheaded.
